Buffalo Tofu 'Chicken'

If you love buffalo sauce, you’ve gotta try this vegan buffalo tofu chicken. I’ve never tried buffalo wings, so I don’t know if this recipe tastes like the original one, but I love how these tofu 'chicken' taste! I was even surprised by how amazing these turned out. I know the ingredients list looks long and intimidating, but most of them are just spices. I can just imagine serving a double or triple batch of these vegan buffalo tofu chicken during a dinner party or holiday gathering.



Remember the buffalo cauliflower craze that swept the internet a few years back? I’m not mad about it, but I prefer a somewhat more, shall we say, substantial buffalo sauce-to-mouth delivery vessel. And by that I mean breaded tofu. These flaky tofu are marinated in strong vegan chicken-y flavours, breaded and baked to golden loveliness and coated in rich, buttery-tasting vegan buffalo sauce. They are spicy, flavourful, high in protein, and the perfect addition to so many dishes.



Are you drooling yet?! Tofu is an excellent whole-food source of soy protein, and it makes the perfect “meat” for vegan nuggets. By pressing and freezing the tofu, you make it firmer and more porous. I love the idea of buffalo-sauce coated anything. The heat and buttery goodness tastes amazing on pretty much any food. While testing this recipe I had quite a few batches of buffalo tofu to eat! I wound up snacking on quite a bit while photographing the recipe (teehee) and saved the rest for later.
