I realise I might have missed the banana bread train, which was the thing to bake at the height of the quarantine. Banana bread is one of those classic, all-American comfort food recipes that fills the whole house with warmth and makes everything better. Banana bread is magic. But what could be more deliciously comforting than moist than this vegan chocolate banana bread? I decided to add some extra chocolate, both for presentation and because there’s absolutely no such thing as too much chocolate.
Over the years, I’ve tested oodles of vegan banana bread recipes and never settled on one that I thought was “it”. Too dense, too dry, too moist, lacking banana flavour, too sweet, not sweet enough, etc. It drove me nuts. Each time, I would tweak my recipe a bit more. But this is The One, my friends. The moisture and sweetness from the extra banana makes the recipe so soft and delicious that you’d swear it absolutely must be full of fat and sugar.
This ‘tried and true’, classic vegan banana bread recipe is moist, healthy, and so easy to make. Oh, and guess what? After one bite, you’ll be hard pressed to determine that this chocolate banana bread is indeed vegan. How awesome is that?!
This recipe seriously feels like you’re eating actual chocolate cake… yet it’s secretly good for you at the same time! To cut back on calories without sacrificing taste or texture, I’ve added 3 whole mashed banana into this decadently banana bread. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is the best chocolate banana bread on the market, vegan or not. I’m willing to stand by that statement.
