Cooking with teriyaki sauce is always something very interesting for me. when i was a child, my family almost never cooked Japanese dishes. Have you tried oyster mushrooms before? Here I have used oyster mushrooms to create this vegan teriyaki oyster mushroom dish that doesn’t really mimic any seafood-based dish in particular, but it does still have that seafood feel to it. Is there anything mushrooms can’t do?
The finished mushrooms have a dark colour and shiny luster, with a spongy and meaty texture and a sweet, savoury, rich flavour. The fresh green onion adds a refreshing citrusy taste. If you didn’t know, oyster mushrooms are a great vegan substitute for meat, as they are firm and have a meaty texture when bitten into. When cooked with teriyaki sauce, you’ll have a nutritious, delicious combination that will go perfectly over rice.
Teriyaki dishes are often easy to recognise as they are dark, shiny, and covered with thick, sticky teriyaki sauce. They taste great, too! The taste may be described as sweet, and sour, and sticky! This teriyaki sauce is rich in flavour; there is saltiness from the soy sauce and sweetness from the coconut sugar, which complements the umami taste of the mushrooms. This dish will also go perfectly with a side of stir fried vegetables.
