Dumpling Wrappers

Updated: Apr 30, 2018

Chinese dumplings are one of my favourite foods and this simple dough makes the perfect wrapper for wontons, gyoza and potstickers. Store-bought wonton wrappers often contain egg and other icky additives but they are not at all needed for great dumplings at home. This egg-free dumpling dough recipe keeps things simple. You can cook them all types of ways, including boiling the dumplings, pan-frying, or steaming.

When I posted my recipe for wonton soup on my Instagram the other day, I quickly found out that many of you don’t have access to vegan wonton & dumpling wrappers in your regular grocery store. This is not ok! As a result, I suddenly felt like an evil person for posting a recipe for vegan wonton soup that many of you were not able to make. What a tease! I had to solve the problem asap. Tah dah! Problem solved.

I was actually surprised at how easy they were to make too. All it takes is some elbow grease and a bit of patience when rolling them out, and they are quite easy. Just the way I like all my recipes!

While you’re working, keep the finished wrappers under a pieces of plastic wrap or put them directly in a container with a lid. Because they are so thin, they can dry out easily. Also, keep any dough that you’re not working with under wraps as well.

When you’ve used up all the dough, use the wrappers right away or store them in the fridge in an airtight container. Vegan wonton & dumpling wrappers, hear me roar! Only 4 ingredients make up these wrappers, and it’s all ingredients you most likely have on hand already. Woot! So last minute dumplings can be totally a thing.
